Chayce Beckham Earns First No. 1 On Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart With ’23’

“American Idol” season 19 winner Chayce Beckham has earned his first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay Chart With “23.”

The lead single from his debut album, Bad for Me, “23” jumped five spot to top Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart dated April 6.

The song earned 28.2 million audience impressions during the tracking week ending on March 28, according to Luminate.

Released to country radio on January 23, 2023, the song is an autobiographical story written by Beckham himself. Lyrically, it tells of his struggles with alcoholism.

According to Beckham, the idea for the song came when, prior to his audition for “American Idol,” he was involved in a drunk driving incident.

“I’m so grateful for my family, my team and all the country music fans around the world who made this possible,” the country singer told Billboard. “Thank you to country radio for embracing this song and making this all a dream come true for me.”

“23” reached the pinnacle after a long journey of 60 weeks, Billboard reports.

Beckham played the song live on air during the 2021 season of ABC’s “American Idol” and eventually won the musical reality show.
