Mason Ramsey recently released “Reasons to Come Home,” his first new song since 2019.
“Reasons to Come Home” is an ode to Ramsey’s grandparents, who raised the 16 year-old country music prodigy.
“Reasons to Come Home’ is a very special song to me. It’s all about my amazing grandparents, who raised me and are my only ties to my hometown of Golconda, Ill.,” Ramsey said in a statement. “While the song is a love letter to Golconda and all the things I love there, it’s also a realization that when my grandparents are gone, I sadly won’t have any reason to go back to Golconda.”
Fans who listen to Ramsey’s first new music after a gap of four years can identify his post-puberty voice.
Ramsey co-wrote the song with Jeff Middleton and Rob Pennington.
In March 2018, 11-year-old Ramsey’s performance of Hank Williams‘ “Lovesick Blues” in a Walmart store went viral and has since garnered 85 million YouTube views.
