Shania Twain recently shared her new song, “Waking Up Dreaming,” which marks her first release since 2017.
The five-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s new song, accompanied by a video directed by Isaac Rentz, is her first under a recording agreement with Republic Nashville.
Speaking about the release and new partnership, the country-pop icon said, “I couldn’t think of a better partner than Republic Nashville. I’m honored and excited to be the label’s first artist and lead the charge of this new and exciting chapter. In this respect, it feels like a new beginning all around, and I’m embracing it wholeheartedly.”
Republic Records co-founder and CEO Monte Lipman said, “Shania is one of the most influential and impactful artists of this generation. She’s a rare talent whose legacy continues to resonate throughout the world. We feel a tremendous amount of gratitude to support her new body of work, which is spectacular.”
Twain ended her tie up with Mercury Nashville, which has been there since the beginning of her recording career in the early 1990s, earlier this year.
Twain’s previous studio album Now, her first album in 15 years, was released in 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
